project overview

(Project duration: 2 weeks)

what i didn't know

1) I chose the name so enthusiastically and lightly that I did not realize that it was not just the innocence of making people happy and "in the end, everything is good" but a sexual act. Only a month after the presentation I returned to the analysis of the project, researched it in depth and even the name and thus discovered the bitter truth.

2) Since this is the first app I designed I did not know from what emotional place to look at things and how to route them to a product worthy of the user. At the time, I was working as a branch manager at Gali and took advantage of my relationship with customers to develop a dialogue with them and a questionnaire about the same product.

the problem

death is a hard thing to handle. it's the scariest & difficult times in our lives so people are afraid & don't want to take part in the funeral and put their motions away from them and bury the pain with no talking about it.

the solution

happy ending will make this process for peoples and their loves ones easier and even put a smile on their faces by building a unique playlist & share pics, videos, memories, last words, invite others and more online with close family & friends at the funeral.

discovery

value proposition & research

based on the finding i read, i realized that the app should be of psychological & friendy help. by helping to connect people and share their feelings, to present them a reality mirror that will help them go through the grief process in the right, safe & realistic way for a person and not in the way of denying the same situation they are in and repressing their feelings.

insight no 1: https://www.mhanational.org/bereavement-and-grief
this article makes it possible to show the side of saving memory from the person who died which is one of the few ways to achieve pease and mental quiet. so i inserted a feature that allows the user to share live or private with each other memories, photos, and videos of the person who died.
insight no 2: https://www.healthline.com/health/grief-without-denial-6-healthy-ways-to-accept-death#3.-Have-a-funeral-that-speaks-to-their-personality
this article allows showing the insight of denial, the omission of details, and cynicism in feelings & from the mourning event. here i decided to present them with the possible deal with the emotion without running away from it gently & elegantly by making moourning for a whole event and a positive emotion.

expectations

for most of us, this expectation is as human beings that our family will remain and stay through this entire life path with us. so, the first thing they expect to find in this app is the possibility to keep as many memories as possible of their family member who is approaching their last day and make this process joyful & easy.

pleasure:

happy ending has the option of providing community space. happy ending app includes simply made videos and chat with other people to share with them their feelings & hard moment in life by giving the option to join the funeral at any time and any place.

flow:

on happy ending the family or the person himself upload basic details as their wish after that they have the option to create last words and will, and watch the people who are coming to chat with them.

meaning:

happy ending is all about capture significant moments in life, honor, and remembers your loved one in a respectful way and share a painful experience with friends and other people who are ready to come together in such a painful moment.

i wanted to understand the expectations to make the process more delightful by pleasure, flow and meaning to be able bring value out to the users.

wireframes

these wireframe screens were based on feedback received from users, lecturers and other great designers.

persona

according to the research i did by persona about david.
designing for david helped me make informed design decisions and made me understand the family side as well.

name - David, 95

country, city - israel, herzliya

job - pensioner

bio:

david as always waking up at 7am in the morning. he drinks a cup of water with lemon, after that he gets out to clean his garden. on the same say, he felt baad so his son took him to the hospital to check him after an hour the family got that bad news that he is not going to stay longer with them. beacuse of that, they get into the app and started to build together the best funeral playlist for him.

frustrations:

david and the family were upset, sad and they didn't want to deal with it.

goal:

to make the "passing away" process easier and say goodbye to their family member in a respecting way.

storyboarding

this storyboard shows moments where david gets known about
his sickness & the family process using the app for funeral preparation.
